“I want to help tell people’s stories to bridge the gap of empathy. I want us to see one another more clearly. To know better. To understand better. To love better.
I believe that that is the essence of what we need in this life, not to try to survive around one another, but to live with one another as one.”

Chrisleen “Chrissyy” Herard is a storyteller, journalist, and content creator with a commitment to criminal justice reform and community healing. A graduate of Howard University’s Cathy Hughes School of Communications, she specialized in Media, Journalism & Film Communications and gained hands-on experience reporting on the U.S. justice system as a crime journalist for the Howard University News Service and later as a freelance reporter for AFRO News.

Chrisleen’s work has focused on elevating the voices of those impacted by incarceration and systemic injustice. Through her volunteer work with the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute, she has supported storytelling and production efforts for families affected by violence and incarceration.

With a background in legal and nonprofit spaces—including internships with the Boston Bar Association and the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts—Chrisleen brings a strong foundation in advocacy, communication, and organizational support to her role as Executive Assistant and Communications Management the Transformational Prison Project. Her mission is to use her skills to amplify voices often left unheard and support work that fosters healing, accountability, and transformative justice.
