RESTORATIVE JUSTICE FACILITATOR/ CIRCLE KEEPER
Timothy “Tim” Gregory is a Circle Keeper and fierce advocate of increased access to resources, treatment, and mental health services for those who are system-impacted. Having spent more than 30 years incarcerated, Tim is intimately aware of the cycles of trauma that both lead to incarceration and are then exacerbated in carceral settings. With twenty of those years spent in maximum security, Tim had little access to treatment or programming and had to learn how to support and educate himself by reading whatever books he could get his hands on and courageously engaging in vulnerable conversation with peers. His own journey of self-examination and healing has inspired him to pursue restorative justice work as a means to support others and increase access to treatment for forgotten populations.
Tim recently celebrated his one year freedom anniversary, and seeks to be a support system and friend to others who are navigating the triggers and obstacles of reentry after serving long-term sentences. Despite the continued struggles of navigating early reentry, Tim brings positive energy and a wide smile to any space he is in. “I have a passion for people. I know the harm I caused, and I want to work with people as a way to give back and be responsible for my actions. Telling my story can help other people know that they’re not alone, and it helps me heal at the same time. My self care comes from helping others.” Tim is a fierce survivor of unimaginable circumstances and living testament to the power of vulnerability, faith in the unseen, and leading by example.
