ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Taylor is TPP’s beloved Administrative Assistant, meaning that she helps to organize and manage all of our chaos! When our first call with Taylor- a 15 minute phone screen- quickly turned into a 45 minute conversation, we immediately realized that we needed her on the team! Luckily for us, the feeling was mutual. “It just felt like something really special,” Taylor explains, sharing that as soon as she heard Bobby speak on a reentry panel, she knew she wanted to be a part of the organization. She’s been with us ever since and we feel so grateful to call her a part of the TPP family!
Outside of TPP, Taylor is a JD candidate at Suffolk University. While criminal justice has been longtime passions of Taylor’s, her interest was further sharpened by a transformative experience participating in her undergrad university's Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program. In the course, held each week inside Bridgeport Correctional Center in TX, outside university students would learn alongside incarcerated students, exchanging ideas and perceptions about crime, corrections, and the legal system. She remembers fondly, “those incarcerated men changed my life. That class moved the issues from textbook and statistics to names and faces and showed me that all of the ‘facts’ about the system were fallacies.” Taylor still zooms with her incarcerated classmates to this day, and works diligently to ensure that lived experience is centered in her academic and professional career.
After completing the Inside-Out Program graduating from the University of North Texas with a BA in Political Science, Criminal Justice, and Philosophy, (yeah, she was busy!) Taylor knew that law school was the natural next step towards her goals. She explains that she has always had a keen interest in practicing law, noting “the question has never been what do I want to do, it’s always been how do I get there.” She ties her dreams of becoming a criminal defense attorney to her experience growing up as the only girl in a family with 3 brothers, noting that she’s always been drawn to the underdog and has learned that there is always more to the story than meets the eye. She is a fierce advocate for equity and justice, sharing “I want to lift the rug and call out all the things that have been swept underneath.” We are so thankful for Taylor’s fierce dedication to justice, calming sense of humor, and immense patience for dealing with our chaos!
