RESTORATIVE JUSTICE FACILITATOR/ CIRCLE KEEPER
Kentel Weaver is a skilled Circle Keeper, gifted artist, and powerful beacon of hope and healing. He has been practicing Restorative Justice for 5 years and brings a much-needed sense of calm and tranquility to the TPP team. Kentel has an innate ability to connect deeply with others and put them at ease. He has a magnetic aura that allows him to connect with the youth in a unique way. Young people seem to open up to him immediately. “I think people feel comfortable sharing with me because they can tell that I’m really of it- they can feel that I’ve been through the same things they’re going through. To be able to make people feel is my superpower.”
Outside of TPP, Kentel is a proud alum of Tufts University's TUPIT (Tufts University Prison Initiative of Tisch College) program. He earned his Associates Degree in Liberal Arts through TUPIT from Bunker Hill Community College. He is currently a student at Tufts University where he is pursuing his Bachelor's Degree in Civic Studies, and is a passionate advocate of increased access to higher education for system-impacted communities. “I used to never think that education was my thing because it was unfamiliar to me and where I come from I've never seen a product of a good education. Being at Tufts helped me realize that I was already smart, but that education could amplify the skills I already had. It was transformative.”
Kentel is also a brilliant & multifaceted artist. Since the age of 12, he has utilized art, writing, and music as a means of self-expression, storytelling, and communal empowerment. He is also an incredibly talented rapper (aka “Stonecatcher”), poet, and public speaker, and is in the process of launching a podcast, “Afterlife,” with his fellow TPP member & bestie Kevin.
